Nicolette has always sought out work and volunteer service that combine education and public service. Nicolette received a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Central Missouri and her Master’s in Public Administration with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management from the University of Missouri Kansas City. While enrolled in her graduate program, Nicolette served as a full-time AmeriCorps member with the Youth Volunteer Corps of Greater Kansas City, where her role was to engage Youth Volunteers, ages 11-18, in service-learning projects benefiting nonprofits and government organizations across the Kansas City metro. It was during her year of service that she realized the power of service-learning and how volunteer service could impact youth. It was also her exposure to a variety of nonprofit and government organizations where she began to see firsthand the effect of strategic planning, governance and management in relation to the advancement of an organization’s goals.
Additional experience includes being the Assistant Program Director for the Youth Volunteer Corps of Greater Kansas City, followed by serving as the Director of Kansas Mentors where she managed the mentoring partnership comprised of almost 200 youth mentoring programs in Kansas while working to promote safe and effective mentoring across the state. Most recently Nicolette served as the Executive Director of the Kansas Volunteer Commission where her role was to manage a $2 million budget, administer close to $1.5 million in sub-grant awards for the AmeriCorps and Volunteer Generation Fund programs and develop programming to support and strengthen the volunteer infrastructure of Kansas.
Nicolette is excited to be a newlywed having very recently married Mr. Derrick Loutsch in the summer of 2014 and in her spare time is an avid reader, enjoys DIY anything and likes to dabble in the kitchen.
