In an effort to express our gratitude to the Liberty educators that continue to inspire and invest in our students, gifts of $100 will be given to Liberty Public Schools throughout the 2015-2016 school year. The LSDF will award these Random Acts of Kindness to celebrate 20 years of Elevating Excellence in Liberty Public Schools.
As a Random Act of Kindness, LSDF staff and board members will look for ways to spread the kindness - so be on the lookout for our Kindness Crew!
On behalf of the ECC, I would like to thank the Liberty Education Foundation board for their generous gift to the ECC through their 20th Anniversary Random Acts of Kindness campaign. It was an honor to be designated as the first recipients. We will use these funds to purchase additional materials to support our implementation of Conscious Discipline into our early learning programs. Conscious Discipline is a social emotional program designed to help support children in the development of their ability to self regulate and build relationships with others. Through this program, one of our goals for children is that they learn to recognize emotions in others, develop their capacity for empathy, and create relationships of mutual trust and respect with peers and adults. All of these factors have an impact on building healthy, resilient children, families and ultimately our community.
Random Act of Kindness: Liberty Middle School
Chris Gregoire has recently started Liberty's first Junior Thespian Honor Society. Members of the society got right to work preparing for Elective Avenue. Mrs. Gregoire and her students put in hours of time preparing a show stopping performance for the incoming 6th graders. Being a new organization, these funds will provide Mrs. Gregoire and the members of Junior Thespian’s opportunities they would not have without the financial support.
In the spring of 2016, the Liberty School District Foundation hosted an essay contest - asking Liberty learners why they love their schools for a chance to win two tickets to a Kansas City Royals game. The Foundation received nearly 80 essays from students!
A big thank you to Hawthorn Bank for donating the tickets and for continuing to support the Liberty School District Foundation!
