2015 Major Saver Press Release

Liberty School District Foundation raises $65,000 through Major Saver and grants over $30,000 to Liberty Public Schools!

As a result of the Major Saver campaign in December of 2015, the Liberty School District Foundation raised $65,388 and has granted half of those funds, $32,681, right back to Liberty elementary and middle schools.  The Liberty School District Foundation has leveraged the Major Saver Campaign since 1999, and has successfully granted out over $355,000 to LPS from the proceeds.

In an effort to support education in Liberty, the Foundation commits to granting each school half of the proceeds earned at their school; these funds are used to directly benefit Liberty students and support learning in the classroom.   Dr. Kyle Palmer, principal of Lewis and Clark Elementary states, these funds “allow them to offer additional and extended opportunities for students to be prepared for the 21st century.”  How schools use the funds can vary depending on the need, however, all funds must directly benefit students.

Examples include :

  • DIY Labs, Maker Spaces and 3D Printer
  • Supporting student leadership or positive character development programs
  • Leader in Me Leadership initiatives
  • Expanded playground equipment
While LSDF splits the funds with LPS, the remainder of the proceeds is used to support the Foundation and its programs, such as the Learning Enrichment Grants, Excellence in Education grants and the H.O.P.E. Awards.  Established in 1995, the Foundation serves as a partner to Liberty Public Schools providing educational enhancements, grants, special programs and projects, and recognition of personal excellence to the students of the Liberty School District.  Through private community support, the Foundation funds projects that allow teachers to provide a unique and high quality learning experience for all of Liberty’s students.
