Since 2008, the Liberty School District Foundation has hosted its annual Run. For the Kids -a  5K Walk Run/10 Run. Every year, nearly 200 adults and youth participate to help the Foundation raise money to support educational initiatives in Liberty Public Schools.

Proceeds raised from the Run, will provide funds to benefit the Foundation's core programs including Excellence in Education grants, the Learning Enrichment Grant program and the H.O.P.E. Awards.

ANNOUNCEMENT

We will accept registrations at packet pick up, on Friday, October 2 at Mosaic from 4-7 and race day from 7:15-7:45 am.

  • Cash or check only

*register by 9/17/2015 to receive a t-shirt during the packet pickup.  Registrations received after 9/17/2015 will still receive a shirt, however, they will be available for pick-up at a later date.

The Foundation worked with Liberty North High School Students to design this year's t-shirt; over 35 designs were submitted.

This year's shirt was designed by Liberty North student Jared Hockensmith.

  • All proceeds will go to support the Liberty School District Foundation and its programming.  The LSDF exists to support educational initiatives in every LPS school, including LEG grants, Excellence in Education grants and the H.O.P.E. Awards.
  • When you register, be sure to designate a Liberty Public School that you would like to support- the top three schools will receive a grant from the Liberty School District Foundation!

Kids Super Hero Training Course

Kids 10 and under are invited to participate in a Super Hero Training Obstacle Course!  There is no cost to participate.

  • Kids are encouraged to wear their super hero costumes of choices - from Spider-Man to Hello Kitty to Elsa to Batman - all are welcome!
  • Races will start around 8:45-9:00 a.m. 
  • Super Heroes that finish the training will become Certified Education Super Heroes!

When: October 3, 2015, 8:00 a.m. We run rain or shine - no refunds

Where: Race starts and ends at the Liberty Community Center located at 1600 S Withers Rd, Liberty, MO 64068.

Who: The Run. For the Kids is operated by the Liberty School District Foundation.  The dollars raised from this race go to support the Foundation and its programming which center on meeting classroom needs in Liberty Public Schools.

Other Tid Bits:

  • Drink aid stations will be available throughout the course.
  • Volunteers will be present at all turn-arounds and cross-streets.
  • Race is chip timed (provided by Raceday Timing Solutions).  Winners will be announced during Finish Line Festivities and all results will be posted online (on this website).
  • Runners, joggers, walkers and strollers are welcome!
  • The top three Liberty Public School buildings represented (you may select a school when you register) will receive a grant from the Liberty School District Foundation.

Race Day Schedule

7:15 a.m. - 7:50 a.m.
Late packet pick-up, music and warm-up festivities at the Start Line

  • Yoga Liberty will lead a pre-race stretch before the race
  • Walk-up or DAY OF registrations will be accepted - cash or check only and must be completed by 7:45 a.m.

8:00 a.m.
All runners, walkers, joggers and strollers (runners first, walkers and strollers behind runners)

8:30 a.m.
Finish Line Festivities (at the Liberty Community Center)
Top three winners for each age bracket will be announced during Finish Line Festivities
Local gyms and health related organizations  will share opportunities to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle!

9:00 a.m.
Kids Super Hero Race will start!
Kids 10 and and under are invited to participate in their very own race - FREE!

Packet Pick Up
Packet Pick Up will take place on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the MOSAIC Life Care at Shoal Creek (8880 NE 82nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64158).

Late registrations will be accepted during packet pick up time as well - cash or check only!

By School
When you register you are encouraged to pick a Liberty Public School building that you would like to run for.  The top three schools selected will receive  a grant from the Liberty School District Foundation!

By Age/Gender
RACE IS CHIP TIMED
Awards will be announced/given for male and female finishers for the 5K and 10K.  Awards will also be given for top three male and female finishers in the fallowing age groups:

 10 and under
 15-19 30-39 50-59
 11-14 20-29 40-49 60 and over

By Race/Experience
All racers will line up and start at 8:00 a.m. Participants are allowed to walk or run. Strollers and/or pets are allowed in the race event but will start in the back of the group.  All pets must be on non-retractable leashes.   All pet owners are responsible for their own pet behavior and safety.

Run. For the Kids Waiver

I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run. I also know that while protection will be provided, there may be traffic on the course. I assume all risks associated with my voluntary participation in this event including, but not limited to heat and/or humidity, traffic, and the condition of the road, all such risks being known or appreciated by me. Knowing these facts, and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I for myself, my heirs, executors, release the City of Liberty, Liberty School District #53, and the Liberty School District Foundation workers or volunteers, their representatives, successors, contractors, timers, photographers or assigns, and all race sponsors or officials, from ANY AND ALL claims of liability, whether foreseen or unforeseen, for death, personal injury or property damage arising out of, or in the course of my participation in this event. THIS RELEASE SPECIFICALLY INCLUDES ANY CLAIMS BASED ON THE NEGLIGENCE OF ANY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES. I agree not to use rollerblades, skateboards, or scooters during the race. I understand that animals are not allowed. Participants in wheelchairs, motorized or pushed, and those with baby strollers will not be eligible for prizes. Participants must finish the race course to be eligible for prizes. The race director reserves the right to cancel the race due to inclement weather or an emergency. In the event of cancellation, there will be no refunds.
